tummy time

Jack already loves books

Jack enjoyed looking at the book our friend Ryann gave him. He laid on the floor for about 5 minutes looking at the book. I think he liked the colors. :)

Mommy and daddy love Jack's little piggy toes!

HI EVERYONE!

First Visit to the Ocean

Sunday we went to the beach. Jack was bundled in his wrap and under a hat. He loves to be outside and enjoys the breeze. Today we took a walk. It was VERY hot, but Jack was comfortable and took a nap in his stroller.

Nana and Jack

Nick's mom (Nana) came to visit this week. It was the first time she'd seen him since Mexico. Jack has enjoyed all the attention and cuddling! We went to the eye doctor today and he said the ROP was at zero. That means the blood vessels are growing like they should be. We go back in 3 weeks and if everything is still good we see him in 6 months. Very good news to hear :)

GI Doctor

Went to the GI doctor today. He is upping his medicine for his acid reflux. We will need to keep him on the heart/lung monitor for a couple months. He said Jack will probably grow out of the acid reflux. We go back in 6 weeks.

Pediatrician

Today we went to the pediatrician. Jack is now 6 lbs. 5 ounces and 18 inches long! The doctor said he looked good! We go to the GI doctor tomorrow and the eye doctor on Friday. We are enjoying having Nana Selvaggio visit. We took a walk to the mall today. Jack enjoys being outside! Too bad it is way to hot to be out for long periods of time :)

Bath Time

Mommy and daddy gave Jack his first "real bath" this weekend.

Big Brother Oscar and Jack

Oscar and Maya have shown no interest in Jack. I lay Jack on Oscar and he just looks at him. Maya walks by Jack, looks and runs away. Just wait until Jack can chase after them!

Just Chillin'

Jack Allen has continued to be a very relaxed little boy. He is getting used to mommy holding him (oops)! It is just so hard to put him down! He's so snuggly. Jack has three doctors appointments next week. The GI doctor, eye doctor and pediatrician. We will keep you all up to date on what they all have to say about our little preemie! We are looking forward to having Nana Selvaggio come visit next week :)

Jack with his daddy

Two of my favorite boys:) Jack loves taking naps on our chest. Jack makes mommy and daddy very comfortable and we often fall asleep as well.

One Month Old

We can't believe our little boy is one month already! Our first week home was great. It was so nice to have our family together and not have to travel to the hospital. Jack is a very laid back child who makes his mommy and daddy smile with his little smiles :)

Jack in his going home outfit from Baby Cottons. I saw this outfit before Jack was born and almost bought it because I KNEW I was going to have a little boy!

Night #2

Jack had a great second night! We went to bed as a family at 9:30. I turned on a sound machine and Jack went to sleep listening to waves :) He woke up at 11:30 and 2:30 to eat. Mommy and daddy got alot more sleep! We went to the eye doctor yesterday. Jack has a level 2 ROP (out of five levels) which is when the retina doesn't grow or attached right. It is common in preemies. We go back in two weeks and they will see if it has gotten better or worse. Today we went to the pediatrician and she said Jack looked good:) He is 5 lbs. 2 oz. and is 18 in. long. He was such a good little boy!

First Night

Last night was our first night at home as a family! Jack had a hard time sleeping (which was expected). We think our apartment is too quiet. Jack is used to crying babies and machines beeping! Even though we got little sleep, we are so happy to have our little boy home. Today we go to the eye doctor for a routine eye check. Tomorrow we go to the pediatrician. Jack is 4 pounds 8 ounces. He is such a cute little peanut! Time to get some rest :)

Jack found his thumb yesterday. I nursed him at 2:30 and by 4:30 he was hungry again! He has a great appetite. Grandma was holding him and he started sucking his thumb. It was too cute! Our plans are to have him home on Monday.

Not ready to go home :(

The doctor came in today and said Jack is not able to go home until Monday or later. He was taking a medicine called caffeine. He went off of it on Wednesday and they have to wait 5-7 days until he is able to go home. We were really looking forward to bringing our baby home so this is the news we did not want to hear. We hope everyone is enjoying their fourth of July!

Daddy's little buddy :)

Mommy's little boy :)

One of the many outfits from Nana Selvaggio! Mommy has to make sure Jack matches when she dresses him (including socks and bibs)!

Happy Fourth of July

Jack is supposed to come home tomorrow! If all goes well today Jack is supposed to be released. He continues to eat well and is gaining weight. Jennie's mom visited this week and is staying over the weekend to help mom and dad with Jack. We are so excited for the kitties to meet their little brother!

Big Boy Bed

Jack was moved into a big boy bed yesterday. He needs to be able to maintain his temperature in order to stay in the open bed. This is a big step towards going home! We are still not asking about a time frame... we're just going with the flow (that is VERY hard for mommy since she likes to know exact dates!) He drank 41 ml from a bottle yesterday. He is steadily gaining weight each day. Thank you for the prayers and kind thoughts. We can't wait for our little boy to be home with us. His bed is set up and his clothes are in baskets for him.

Jack with his blankets from Tia Shawna

The nurse showed us how to give Jack a sponge bath. He did a great job! Only fussed a little.
